I believe in monsters.

Really.

And I hope you do too.

Because a world filled with monsters—with mysterious terrors and unknown creatures that hunger for your heart—is a world full of wonder and mystery. It’s a world of imaginings and daydreams and chills that keep you up at night. It’s a world of flashlights tucked under your pillow and covers pulled all the way over your head.

It’s a world I long to live in.

Because a world like that would also have to be one of hope and humor, of wonder and whimsy, of courage and nerve.

So I guess what I really believe in is what monsters can do for us.

They can make us creative. They can make us hopeful.

They can make us brave.

They can teach us to feel fear, and more importantly, they can teach us to overcome fear.

So, yes, I believe in monsters.
